In a recent interview, a hairstylist shed light on this popular 3rd-generation idol’s “main character”syndrome, along with her attitude toward staff and group members.
On October 1st, a hairstylist sat down with Sports Kyunghyang to discuss April and its former member Hyunjoo, who made allegations of bullying against the girl group during their active period in 2021.
Netizens largely sided with the alleged victim, leading to the disbandment of April.
Now, three years after the incident, witnesses are beginning to speak out, claiming that instead of being bullied, Hyunjoo was actually the bully.
The hairstylist, referred to as Stylist A, stated that April is the kindest girl group she has encountered, contradicting claims that they ostracized Hyunjoo. Instead, she described the former member’s personality as “unpredictable.”
She elaborated:
“Rather than bullying, the atmosphere was such that she would stand out on her own, making it challenging for both the members and the staff to approach her.”
The stylist emphasized that bullying was impossible, likening Hyunjoo to a “bomb”that could easily explode with a slight trigger. Staff members noted that April took extra care of Hyunjoo during their time together.
On the topic of Hyunjoo’s attitude, the stylist stated:
“The label always positioned Hyunjoo at the center. She was aware that she was the prettiest and cultivated a mindset that she needed to remain the prettiest. This is what we refer to as ‘main character syndrome.’ Furthermore, Hyunjoo exhibited a victim mentality. How could this not lead to conflicts?”
Having been involved with the group since their trainee days, the stylist also claimed that Hyunjoo lacked warmth toward her fellow members and her career as an idol.
