The Halloween festivities have officially started in Pokémon Go, unleashing a thrilling assortment of ghost, dark, bug, and psychic-type Pokémon into the environment. Staying true to its annual tradition, the game introduces fresh Pokémon each year. This time we’re excited to welcome the charming Morpeko.
Morpeko is a delightful, plump rodent Pokémon recognized for its distinct Hunger Switch Ability, which enables it to transform its form and modify its looks. As a dark/electric-type Pokémon, Morpeko is considered a scarce find, since it can only be acquired from select limited sources.
1. How can players acquire Morpeko in Pokémon Go?
You can obtain Morpeko through the following methods:
- Halloween 2024 Spiritomb Challenge: Complete the task of catching 108 Dark or Ghost-Type Pokémon
- Halloween 2024 Field Research Task: Successfully win 2 Raids
- Rewards for reaching Go Battle League Rank 16
- Timed Research with a purchase: Morpeko Onesie
Keep in mind that Morpeko cannot be found in the wild or through raids, so your best chance of obtaining it lies within the aforementioned tasks. This Pokémon is exclusively available during the Halloween season, making it essential to gather as many as possible while you have the chance.
Collecting one or two Morpeko should be manageable for most players, but securing one with desired stats may require additional time and effort.
If you aim to capture Morpeko through Field Research tasks, consider stacking your tasks strategically. Try to complete two raids and all tasks in a single session to maximize your opportunities to encounter Morpeko.
2. Is it possible to obtain Morpeko after the Halloween event?
After the Halloween event, players can only claim Morpeko via rewards from the GO Battle League.
To earn a Pokémon encounter from the GO Battle League, you need to secure a minimum of three wins out of five matches. It is important to note that there will be other Pokémon encounters available alongside Morpeko, making its capture uncertain.
3. Is shiny Morpeko available?
Shiny Morpeko will not be introduced during the Halloween 2024 event, so players cannot currently encounter it. However, it may appear in future events.
4. How can players switch Morpeko’s form?
Morpeko has the ability to switch between two forms, Full Belly Mode and Hangry Mode, after executing a charged attack. It can alternate between these forms until it faints or is knocked out.
This transformation impacts its charge attack, Aura Wheel. In Full Belly Mode, Aura Wheel becomes an Electric-type move, while in Hangry Mode, it shifts to a Dark-type move.
Using the Electric-type Aura Wheel makes Morpeko particularly effective against Flying and Water-type Pokémon. Conversely, when it utilizes the Dark-type Aura Wheel, it gains strength against Ghost and Psychic-type opponents.
Currently, this ability can only be employed in battles against Team GO Rockets and in the GO Battle League, rather than in raids.
