Halo Reach player cannot claim Xbox 360 bonus code after servers shut down

The era of the Xbox 360 ended 11 years ago, and the nostalgic memories of games like Halo, Fable, and Gears of War feel more distant than ever before.

Despite their thriftiness, one player tried to revive the group by redeeming bonus content for Halo Reach. However, unfortunate circumstances thwarted their efforts.

On Reddit, one player sought advice from the Halo community after their digital code was not accepted by Xbox. Unfortunately, as one response pointed out, the Xbox 360 had shut down the day before, which was less than 24 hours before the

Do these codes still work or is there a way to redeem them it says it’s invalid on the Xbox website and not working on console I had no idea they expire byu/Yung_myros inhalo

The purpose of the code in question was to provide additional bonus content that could be redeemed through Xbox Live. It should be noted that purchases for Xbox 360-era products will still be processed on newer consoles and PC, but physical codes can only be redeemed on 360 consoles, as the store is no longer functional on these devices.

Despite the code’s age, the responses were still unsympathetic. One individual commented, “You’ve had 14 years to use that code, and you decide to do so on the very day the store servers go offline.”

Some also argued that his reliance on Xbox Live could have hindered him from utilizing the bonus Halo items, as one person stated, “Even if the codes were still functional, the items would not be usable. The customization was linked to the online servers, leaving everyone with the default appearance.”

Despite the end result being less than ideal, many were pleased to see that there were still efforts being made to preserve the old console. One person commented, “This brings back so much nostalgia. Thank you for that. That game will always hold a special place in my heart, even though I am a fan of PlayStation. I’m grateful that I chose to get a PS3 later and had the 360 first. OG Reach was truly a unique experience.”

Despite the downfall of Xbox 360 online services, there is still hope for gamers as backwards compatibility allows many games to still be played.
