On September 3, Lee Jin-ho, a former entertainment reporter, uploaded a video on his YouTube channel titled “Mom, Please Lend Me Some Money”which discussed Han So-hee’s mother’s recent disturbing behavior.
Lee Jin-ho revealed that he was the first to look into the debt controversy surrounding Han So-hee’s mother. He even had a direct conversation with her at the time, during which she assured him that she would no longer trouble her daughter and would refrain from contacting her in the future.
Despite Han So-hee’s declaration that she had ended all ties with her mother, the speaker noted, “It is difficult to completely sever familial bonds.”After a period of no communication following Han So-hee’s resolute statement, her mother eventually reached out again and they have since continued to maintain a mother-daughter relationship.
Furthermore, Lee Jin-ho disclosed that the harsh reality had persisted, as he stated, “Upon resuming communication, Han So-hee’s mother resumed her requests for financial aid. She even contacted the agency, causing immense distress to all parties involved.”
Han So-hee had a difficult childhood, as her parents divorced when she was 5 years old. She was then raised by her grandmother and eventually moved to Ulsan for high school to live with her mother. However, her mother refused to live together and she had to live separately. Before college, Han So-hee faced financial struggles and ended up giving up on her education to move to Seoul and pursue modeling. It was during this time that her mother began to ask her for money.
As Han So-hee’s fame grew and she became a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, her mother’s financial requests also escalated. Despite Han So-hee’s attempts to assist with her mother’s financial troubles, they continued to occur. Her mother would often borrow money in Han So-hee’s name, and despite Han So-hee repeatedly coming to her aid, the issues persisted. It was even reported that her mother would request money right after Han So-hee received her paycheck from the agency, claiming it was only a temporary loan. Unfortunately, there are numerous unknown individuals who have been affected by her mother’s actions.
On September 2, TV Chosun revealed that Han So-hee’s mother, identified as Shin, had been arrested for running more than ten illegal gambling dens. Shin has been operating 12 gaming establishments in Ulsan and Wonju since 2021, using a front man as a cover. Customers would visit these establishments managed by Shin to recharge game money and participate in games such as baccarat. This is not the first time Shin has been involved in such illegal activities as she has previously been fined and has a record of fraud.
Upon hearing the news, Han So-hee’s agency released an official statement on her behalf, expressing her shock and distress over the situation. The agency also clarified that the actress had no involvement in the incident, emphasizing that it was solely the result of the mother’s independent actions.
They also expressed regret for any discomfort caused by discussing personal matters that are unrelated to Han So-hee’s professional career.
