Han So-hee Discusses Family Struggles as She Celebrates 31st Birthday, Born in 1993

On October 31st, TenAsia reported that although Han So-hee is commonly recognized as being born in 1994, she is actually a year older, having been born in 1993, making her 31 years old. She is also known to have a close friendship with fellow actress Jeon Jong-seo, but it appears that she is, in fact, the elder of the two.

In a statement released through her agency, 9ato Entertainment, Han So-hee clarified the reason behind her public identification as a 1994 birth year. This situation arose from her mother’s legal troubles. During her elementary school years, Han So-hee faced disruptions in her education due to her mother’s fraud allegations, leading her to continue her studies a year later.

Han So-hee recounted to TenAsia, “When I was nearing the fourth grade, I had to move to Ulsan because my mother was being pursued by law enforcement. I spent an entire year at home away from school, returning to Wonju to join fourth grade again after my mother was incarcerated.” This circumstance led her to grow up alongside classmates born in 1994, and it consequently influenced her career in entertainment.

Currently, Han So-hee’s mother, Ms. Shin, is serving time in prison. She was apprehended on September 3rd for managing illicit gambling sites across 12 internet cafes located in Wonju, Gangwon Province, from December 2022 until August of this year.

In response to the situation, Han So-hee’s agency, 9ato Entertainment, stated, “This is a deeply personal issue stemming from her mother’s actions. Han So-hee is heartbroken upon hearing this news, and we want to emphasize that this matter is entirely separate from her, involving solely her mother. We regret having to disclose such distressing information that is unrelated to her professional life.”

On another note, Han So-hee remains active across various platforms. Her latest drama series, “Gyeongseong Creature 2,” premiered on Netflix on September 27th. She also made her film debut in “Heavy Snow,” directed by Yoon Soo-ik, where she garnered acclaim for her expressive and intricate performance as the teen star “Seol.”
