Hanni Receives Backlash for Expressing Frustration Over HYBE Artists Ignoring NewJeans: ‘You Deserve It’

NewJeans has recently expressed serious concerns regarding their parent company, HYBE, with member Hanni speaking about experiences of discrimination from other artists and staff.

In a now-deleted YouTube live broadcast, the members addressed Chairman Bang Si Hyuk, along with co-artists and staff, shedding light on the mistreatment they faced amidst ongoing controversies.

NewJeans demonstrated strong support for former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and urged HYBE to revert to the original structure of the sub-label. The issue of isolation from fellow artists became more pronounced during this time.

Hanni shared a distressing event involving a particular HYBE group and a manager who intentionally avoided interaction with NewJeans. She recounted:

“On the 4th floor of the HYBE building, there’s a hair & makeup room. I was waiting in the hallway when other team members and a manager walked by. We greeted each other, but when they returned, the manager instructed them to ignore me. I could hear everything, yet their managers said, ‘Ignore her.’ It still baffles me why I had to endure that. I think it’s ridiculous.”

Minji, the leader of NewJeans, expressed her confusion upon hearing Hanni’s account:

“I was left speechless when I heard what Hanni experienced. How could a manager instruct their team to ignore one of its members?

What she went through was unimaginable, and there was no acknowledgment or apology from them. I’m concerned this might happen again, and that Hanni may be left unprotected and ostracized.”

When this segment of the broadcast was shared on social media, it achieved over 10 million views and sparked numerous reactions from netizens.

However, in a surprising twist, Hanni did not receive the sympathy of K-pop fans and instead faced backlash, with comments suggesting she deserved such treatment.

According to the feedback, many fandoms expressed disappointment over NewJeans’ support for Min Hee Jin, who previously collaborated with Bang Si Hyuk to undermine rival groups like aespa.

Min also accused ILLIT of copying NewJeans and criticized LE SSERAFIM for debuting before them.
