The release of season 3 of Euphoria still seems to be postponed: has the series been canceled, or will it be entitled to its sequel?
The cast of the HBO series has had a busy schedule lately: Sydney Sweeney played spiders in Madame Web, Jacob Elordi traumatized the most innocent viewers in Saltburn, and Zendaya was busy taming sandworms in Dune 2.
Faced with these busy schedules, Euphoria fans began to worry. Especially since the failure of The Idol put a piece back in the machine for theories on social networks: will showrunner Sam Levinson really be able to ensure a season 3 of Euphoria, or has this new part Was it canceled?
Has Euphoria season 3 been canceled?
Season 3 of Euphoria was not canceled, but it was heavily delayed for many reasons, from cast scheduling conflicts to the impact of the 2023 strikes.
Variety reported a studio spokesperson saying that “HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to creating an exceptional third season.” But not to the point of calling the actors on set in the coming days: “In the meantime, we encourage our in-demand cast to accept other opportunities.”
In the same article, we learn that the scripts for the episodes are being written, the production having suffered from the impact of the 2023 strikes in Hollywood, but also the death of Angus Cloud, who played Fezco in the HBO series.
For his part, insider Jeff Sneider claims that the delay of Euphoria is due to the filming of Spider-Man 4, in which Zendaya will reprise her role as MJ. The cameras should therefore start “in September or October” 2024, which would force the actress to put aside her other projects to favor the Marvel and Sony film.
Season 3 of Euphoria was initially announced for 2025, but the information should now be taken with a grain of salt: it is possible that the HBO series will return to our screens much later.
