Heartstopper Actor Unveils Significant “Format Change” for Mysterious Season 3 Episode

We’re just over a week away from the highly anticipated Heartstopper Season 3 premiere on Netflix, and actor Joe Locke has hinted at an exciting “change in format” for Episode 4.

There has arguably never been a better time for Joe Locke. Currently, he’s busy as part of Kathryn Hahn’s coven in Agatha All Along while preparing for the release of Heartstopper Season 3.

While fans may be consumed by the Marvel TV show this month, insights from Locke about the upcoming Netflix series are catching attention. In an interview with MTV, Locke disclosed that Episode 4 will feature a “change in format” that viewers may not expect.

He elaborated: “I always describe it as the first half [of Season 3] is really sad, and the second half of the season is really horny. What more do you need?”

“I’m really excited for Episode 4. It’s a real change in format for Heartstopper and I can’t wait for fans to experience that specifically.”

As of now, fans have only a cryptic preview of what Episode 4 might entail. Previously revealed in August, its title is ‘Journey’, which could signify various themes within the compelling narrative of this binge-worthy TV show.

The title might refer to Charlie’s struggles with an eating disorder, a significant topic that will be addressed in Season 3’s earlier episodes.

It could also symbolize Nick and Charlie’s evolving relationship as they navigate time apart and share their first “I love you.”

One certainty is that Episode 4 is poised to be a pivotal moment in Heartstopper Season 3, as it has been confirmed that “hours” of intimate scenes were filmed for this installment.

In an interview with The Times, actor Kit Connor shared that, “Now we’re filming the sex scenes. We shot a lot of footage for them. Not much actually made it into the show, but we spent about seven hours filming them!”

“We’ve been taking baby steps at every stage,” he added. “During Season 1, the intimacy coordinator ensured we felt comfortable even with simple acts like holding hands.”

Although it’s still not clear when these scenes will appear in Season 3, judging by Locke’s comments, the halfway point promises to lead to a much steamier direction.

Heartstopper Season 3 will be available on Netflix starting October 3. In the meantime, explore the scenes we’re most eager to see, check out the previous Heartstopper cast, and discover more shows streaming this month.
