“Heavy Snow” Director Confirms Han So-hee’s Support for LGBTQ+ Themes

On October 11, a press screening for the film “Heavy Snow” took place at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul, accompanied by a press conference where director Yoon Soo-ik discussed actress Han So-hee’s apprehensions regarding her role prior to the film’s premiere. While director Yoon and co-star Han Hae-in were present, Han So-hee could not attend due to prior commitments.

Yoon revealed, “In our recent conversation, instead of needing reassurance, Han So-hee conveyed her nervousness about how viewers might perceive her performance, which harkens back to her early career.”

He further explained, “I told her that her acting was exceptional and that there was truly nothing to worry about.”

Upon being inquired about any concerns Han So-hee might have regarding the film’s LGBTQ+ themes, Yoon stated, “She didn’t have any worries about that topic whatsoever. As I recall, it wasn’t something we extensively discussed. Her priority lay more in understanding the film’s overall tone and her character, Seol.”

Interestingly, director Yoon revealed that Han So-hee was selected for the role after he encountered an Instagram post of her. He remarked, “When I first came across her image on Instagram, I was taken aback. She embodied a sensual beauty combined with a certain defiance in her expression,” adding, “Finding someone who looks stunning while bringing such depth is rare, and I immediately decided to cast her without conducting an audition.”

In another note, Han Hae-in, who stars alongside Han So-hee in “Heavy Snow,” praised her performance, sharing, “During our initial meetings, we took time to rehearse and share lines. When I looked into Han So-hee’s eyes during that exchange, her emotions resonated with me deeply—I even found myself in tears. It created a lasting impression.”

“Heavy Snow” weaves a romantic tale set in winter, following Seol, portrayed by Han So-hee, a budding star, and Su-an, played by Han Hae-in, an aspiring actress, as they rekindle their connection after previously missing the opportunity to express their true feelings.
