Helldivers 2: A New Long-Range Weapon Worth Trying

The Eruptor, Helldivers 2’s high-end rifle, is demonstrating the viability of long-range weapons in the game through its explosive capabilities that are achieving great results.

Shortly after its release, Helldivers 2’s meta was quickly overtaken by the game’s exceptionally strong shotguns. The Breaker proved to be the weapon of choice due to its effectiveness at all ranges, causing the rest of the game’s arsenal to pale in comparison.

The game’s arsenal has a weak point when it comes to long-range weapons, as players have little incentive to stay at a distance and utilize them when close-range options prove to be much more effective.

The most recent Warbond for Helldivers 2, Democratic Detonation, was released in early April. To the surprise of many players, it has finally introduced a precise primary weapon that is worth using.

The CB-9 Exploding Crossbow, GP-31 Grenade Pistol, and other AoE weapons are all included. Precision is not typically associated with high-powered explosive weapons. However, the recently introduced R-36 Eruptor Rifle, a bolt-action rifle, is gaining attention for its exceptional accuracy.

The R-36 Eruptor is known for its use of explosive ammo, making it a highly effective weapon against enemy armor. In addition, it has the ability to seal Terminid Holes. This rifle has gained a dedicated following among players, with many threads praising its power and showcasing its usefulness.

Moreover, this weapon offers a higher level of skill expression compared to almost any other firearm in the game. While it does have a slow rechambering animation as a result of being a bolt-action rifle, players have the option to switch between their primary and secondary weapons to expedite the animation and fire shots at a faster rate than intended.

It is important to use caution when using this device at close range as its explosive radius is larger than one might anticipate. The description for the R-36 Eruptor specifically advises against using it in close quarters.

Hopefully, Arrowhead will not choose to significantly alter the R-36 Eruptor like they did with other popular weapons in Helldivers 2. Only time will tell, but in the meantime, be sure to secure this powerful weapon and join the frontlines to bring a heavy dose of democracy.
