Helldivers 2 files, obtained through datamining, have reportedly revealed Illuminist enemy types and new stratagems that could potentially arrive in the game.
Despite rumors and several teasers from developers, there is no concrete information on what future Helldivers 2 content might include.
A rumor claims that the Illuminists faction from the first game will make a return in the newly released sequel. Meanwhile, new teasers from Helldivers 2 CEO Johan Pilestedt indicate the potential addition of additional customization options and stealth-based mechanics.
Also, thanks to one player’s datamining efforts, more information about what developer Arrowhead has planned may have been revealed.
Helldivers 2 datamining suggests potential Illuminist enemies
After digging through the Helldivers 2 game files, user stodal shared his findings on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit. The highly anticipated Illuminist faction would be the main element of the leak.
According to the dataminer, the files revealed the following Illuminist enemy types: Adept (can call allies), Ghoul, Illusionist (can throw projectiles and strangle victims from a distance), Obelisk Fire, Pariah (Outcast), Pathfinder, and Summoner.
Datamining also reveals several unused ploys, including a “Nuke”, “MiniMissiles”, and a “MedicBackpack”. According to the report, Helldivers 2 datamining even includes files named “DropoffCombatWalker.” As Redditors pointed out, Pilestedt previously confirmed the name CombatWalker as the codename for mechas planned for a future update.

Aside from the mechas and the already suspected addition of the Illuminists, there’s no indication that any of the above will actually see the light of day in Helldivers 2.
Still, players reviewing the leaked information can’t help but be excited by the multiple possibilities. For example, based on the content of the first Helldivers, one Redditor speculates that the “BugThumper”could be a new form of the Beacon Distractor Stratagem.
It is unclear if, and when, Arrowhead plans to provide more details on the datamined content. In the meantime, Helldivers 2 players are hopeful.
