Arrowhead’s CEO assured players that issues with Helldivers 2’s AFK squatters will be fixed in an upcoming patch.
Much to the surprise of Sony and developer Arrowhead, Helldivers 2 immediately took the gaming world by storm when it launched on PC and PS5 earlier this month.
The sequel has, therefore, encountered server issues since its launch. Indeed, a large number of players are rushing to face bugs and bots for democracy. Some users combat the problem by squatting the server. In other words, they stay connected to the game even when they are not actively playing.
Since this behavior steals spots from other waiting players, the community is hoping that Arrowhead will introduce an auto-kick feature for AFK (Away from Keyboard) users. Fortunately, the Helldivers team is working hard to resolve this issue
Self-eviction feature for Helldivers 2 AFK squatters is coming
In a recent Twitter post that touches on the coveted auto-eviction solution, Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt informed fans that the development team has already started working on a way to evict AFK squatters of servers.
Pilestedt did not provide a specific timeline for the patch but noted that such a feature will likely go live in the “next patch.”
Team is working on it. Will probably be in next patch.

As Helldivers 2 players mentioned in a Reddit discussion, the cadence of patch releases, so far, suggests that the AFK fix could arrive quickly.
“Given the speed of patch releases so far, we can expect this to happen very soon,” one user said on the post in question.
As players patiently wait for the self-eviction patch, Helldivers 2 fans continue their upward trajectory. On February 20, the number of concurrent players on Steam managed to surpass that of Counter-Strike 2. Once better server stability is established, everything suggests that the sequel to Helldivers will break even more records.
