Helldivers 2 Offers Free Killzone Rewards After Costly Collaboration

In a surprising collaboration, Helldivers 2 has joined forces with the iconic first-person shooter franchise, Killzone, allowing gamers to recreate characters from this beloved series. However, mounting player complaints regarding pricing have prompted developers to offer select items at no cost.

Since its launch in 2024, Helldivers 2 has faced a series of challenges, including player dissatisfaction, bug-related issues (excluding the notorious Terminids), and now, the Killzone collaboration has added to the game’s tumultuous journey. Despite these obstacles, Arrowhead Game Studios has been responsive to player feedback, specifically surrounding the recent frustrations with the Killzone features.

Helldivers 2 Developers Give Free Killzone Gear to Players

Arrowhead Game Studios delivered the good news via the game’s Discord server, stating, “We’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys indicates a strong desire for crossover content. Simultaneously, we acknowledge that many of you are dissatisfied with the pricing of the items.”

In light of the holiday season, the developers announced that in collaboration with Guerrilla*, they would bestow a gift upon all players. They mentioned, “We’ve decided to offer the planned second set of Helldivers x Killzone collaboration items today, free of charge.”

Notable free rewards include the Accelerator Rifle, StA-11 SMG, and Obedient AC-2. Previously, dissatisfaction among the community had been palpable, with the price of the Killzone skins set at the equivalent of two Warbonds, as highlighted by the playerbase. This prompted many to take to social media to express their discontent, with some calling for a boycott of these purchases, suggesting that Arrowhead was merely “testing the market.”

As per the developers’ announcement, the rollout of these items will commence soon in two phases. Additionally, they plan to extend the availability of any existing items in the Superstore from five days to ten, offering players a greater opportunity to acquire them and minimizing the risk of missing out.

Gamers can look forward to receiving these exciting items free of charge in the upcoming weeks, alongside an assurance that the paid items will be available for a longer duration. This initiative allows players to enjoy a nostalgic experience while donning favorites from the legendary Killzone franchise.
