Helldivers 2 Patch Fixes Spear Glitch but Causes Game Breakage

The June 18 update for Helldivers 2 addressed an issue with the FAF-14 Spear, but it also brought about a crashing bug that impacts players who utilize the stratagem.

The FAF-14 Spear is a tactic that can only be accessed once players have reached Level 20 in the sequel to Helldivers.

Despite its long cooldown period and the potential risks associated with using it against Automatons, the community has consistently embraced it as a beloved launcher weapon.

Despite being plagued by a bug that prevented it from locking onto targets for months, the stratagem did not receive a fix until the arrival of the 1.000.400 update on June 18.

Despite developers finally addressing the Spear’s aiming difficulties, the anticipation quickly dissipated. Shortly after Arrowhead released the patch, players started experiencing crashing issues when using the stratagem in question.

Some PC players of Helldivers 2 reported in a Reddit discussion that the Spear had unexpectedly begun causing their game to crash. However, some players stated that they had used the stratagem multiple times without experiencing any significant problems.

Regardless, the developers at Arrowhead are fully cognizant of the crashes and are actively seeking a solution.

This information was obtained from a different Reddit post that included a screenshot from Discord. In the post, Community Manager Thomas Petersson, also known as Twinbeard, verified that there have been crashes associated with the Spear ATM and that the team is currently investigating the issue.

Undoubtedly, this has only added to the frustrations of the community, as the longer intervals between patch releases were intended to bring about more significant updates for everyone.

In the thread, a comment is made questioning the amount of time it took to create the latest major patch, and whether the quality was on par with the weekly patches.

Someone else questioned, “Just how much longer will this go on? Are we participating in unpaid Alpha testing?”

Arrowhead has yet to announce a specific timeline for resolving the latest issue with the Spear.
