The popular sequel to Helldivers includes a wide selection of mission types, although the user base hates nothing more than escort objectives. This particular mission tasks recruits with moving civilians from one area to another, all while obstructing the path to success with its most formidable enemies.
Of course, the fight for democracy is not easy under any circumstances, but players believe that escorting civilians in Helldivers 2 borders on the impossible.
Since the game’s launch, the community has been asking for an overhaul of the escort mission. It is uncertain whether such a change is underway, so one person took it upon themselves to design a best practices guide.
Helldivers 2 Users Don’t Need Advice, They Want Escort Missions Fixed
A Redditor named Zarrusso recently uploaded a slideshow detailing how to best complete escort missions. The advice seems simple enough – for example, Helldivers 2 players should try to land as far away from the objective as possible when the game begins.
According to the Redditor, another safe bet is to send one stealth recruit after the scientist while the other three try to assault the overwhelming enemy forces elsewhere. The Smoke Grenades and Eagle Smoke Strike stratagems could come in handy here too.

It’s a nice thought, but the responses to the post show that most players think this advice is largely ineffective. As one person said, “I tested this and this mission is just broken/bugged.”
Another player explained that hints don’t count since Helldivers 2’s escort mission is “bugged with the amount of drop ships spawning every second.”
Further down the thread, someone else offered a different kind of advice – avoid these missions. They told their fellow players, “My advice is to not play this mission until they improve it, really broken in its current state.”
It is currently uncertain whether developer Arrowhead is working on a fix to address the ongoing escort mission issue.
