The Helldivers 2 community is expressing frustration over the growing number of players being kicked from missions for not staying with the group.
Helldivers 2 is full of enemies that can appear during any mission, and all of them are capable of overwhelming players if they are unprepared.
Recently, some players have suggested that these enemies appear in greater numbers when teams split up from each other.
This has led many Helldivers 2 players to kick anyone venturing out alone, which doesn’t sit well with many in the community.
Helldivers 2 fans call to stop evictions
You can find just one example of this issue discussed on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, where a player says: “Thanks to the recent post on Reddit, going alone is now a kickable offense.”
Their post was accompanied by a screenshot of an in-game chat, where another player was harassing them for separating from the group, saying that the number of enemies would increase if that happened.
Thanks to the recent reddit post, going alone is now a kickable offense (even in diff 5) byu/DoTortoisesHop inHelldivers
The community, for the most part, is fed up with this, feeling that it takes a lot of the fun out of the game:
“Even if the patrol story is true (and it’s interesting and good to know, honestly), it’s so stupid how so many people will metagame fun out of everything.”
Many point to recent “tests” that gave people this idea. Many Helldivers 2 fans believe they drew the wrong conclusion from the data.
Let’s talk about Patrols: An In Depth Analysis of Patrol Spawning Mechanics byu/gergination inHelldivers
“In this case, although patrols appear at a faster rate, they also appear over a much larger area, therefore patrol encounter rates can actually decrease (sometimes significantly) depending on the dispersion of the patrols. your groups of players.”
So even though there are more enemies spawning on the map, they are much more spread out because players are covering more ground. This has no impact on moment-to-moment encounters for each player.
“The problem with the relatively simplistic reading many got from a reddit post of raw test data is that people made the wrong inferences. See, most people aren’t really good at reading data, especially incomplete data like what’s been published.”
Another user points out other reasons they were kicked that deserve examination, like picking up their own support weapon or just being of a certain level.
Evictions have been happening in the game since the launch of Helldivers 2, and it seems the community is growing increasingly annoyed by them.
