Helldivers 2 players are unhappy with the current meta

After the recent batch of buffs, the Helldivers 2 community finds itself wishing that more than just the shotguns had received attention.

Since its release, Helldivers 2 has seen Shotguns dominate the meta, with players drawn to their power and surprising range.

This left some fans with the feeling that the other weapon types in the game haven’t received the attention they deserve.

This continues after an update that saw shotguns receive buffs, leading some in the community to ask the developers to stop focusing solely on them.

Helldivers 2 Fans Speak Out About Dominant Shotguns

The debate over shotguns is taking place on the Helldivers 2 subreddit where a player voiced his criticism in a post titled: “Nerving good weapons when many options are underpowered is bad design.”

The post refers to all weapons, not just Primary options, including Stratagems. As the player explains: “Buffing instead of nerfing will not only make people less upset, but will open up more setups faster, which is what the developers want, according to their announcement.”

But the main gripe people have can be seen in the comments, as one user responds to the post: “I hate that they only beefed up other shotguns too, man this game is only shotguns since the release, there’s no love for guns at all.”

Many players are noticing how most of the weapons that have received any attention, whether buffs or nerfs, are shotguns, leaving them wondering if the other types will ever receive any love.

A big problem that one user points out is that a lot of Primary weapons are available on the Premium War Bond Pass, which can cost real money. However, these weapons are often the weakest of the lot.

Some are defending the patch, saying that more balancing is coming: “People are acting like this will be the only balancing patch ever.”

The bottom line is that Helldivers 2 players don’t want the game to lose its sense of fun, which is what attracted them in the first place.
