Helldivers 2 Players Beware Bizarre Punisher Plasma Glitch

The recent update for Helldivers 2 on April 29th caused a glitch that negatively affects players who use both the Punisher Plasma and Shield Generator Pack simultaneously.

The Punisher Plasma, featured in the Cutting Edge Warbond, is a unique shotgun. It differs from others as it does not fire bullets, but instead releases explosive projectiles similar to a grenade launcher. It is safe to say that this weapon packs quite a punch.

The Shield Generator Pack offers a different approach than simply packing a punch. It envelops Divers in a protective shield that can deflect incoming attacks. Combining it with the Punisher Plasma may be a strategic move, as the grenade launcher-like shotgun allows you to get close to enemies and shoot without fear of being harmed by explosive damage.

Nonetheless, those who rely on this combo as their primary strategy should refrain from using it for now. The recent Helldivers 2 01.000.300 patch, released on Monday, April 29, has brought about a severe bug that greatly affects the effectiveness of this gameplay tactic.

In a video shared by Redditor Tulakale on the Helldivers subreddit, it was shown that equipping a Shield Generator Pack will cause rounds from the Punisher Plasma to explode in a Diver’s face.

Although the up-close-and-personal blast does not instantly kill a player upon impact, it does significantly decrease their health by half. This could potentially result in a dire situation if a player becomes overwhelmed by enemies.

Furthermore, as demonstrated in the aforementioned clip, firing the Punisher Plasma twice in the same conditions will result in the Helldivers 2 user being eliminated by the second blast.

Despite its humorous nature, the glitch has resulted in some perplexity. In a Reddit thread, one individual remarked, “Considering this item is meant to interact with projectiles, it seems they neglected to thoroughly test it to ensure only the appropriate projectiles would be affected.”

As of writing, the developer of Helldivers 2, Arrowhead, has not yet acknowledged this strange new bug.
