Helldivers 2 players come together to free a key planet in record time

Helldivers 2 players are coming together like never before. After failing during the last Major Order, everyone now has their eyes turned towards Veld, a key planet to regain some momentum in the fight for democracy.

The Helldivers 2 community has just suffered a major blow. For the first time since the launch of the game, we have failed a Major Order. The Automatons simply proved too powerful and overwhelmed our forces at every turn.

As a result, Super Earth is in turmoil. But the next generation of Helldivers is ready to strike back, this time turning their attention to other fronts, taking on the Terminid infestation across the galaxy. A new Major Order is in effect, and players are coming together to complete it in record time.

Following the failures of the Automatons blitz, no one is looking to see the same mistake happen twice. Now the planet Veld is the center of attention, with the majority of the player base seeking revenge.

Where previous Major Orders were very demanding, tasking us with liberating entire sectors of the galaxy, this week’s mission statement is much simpler. There has been an outbreak of Terminids on Veld and it is our job to contain the spread.

That’s all there is to it. Simply liberate this one planet and be rewarded with 45 medals for your hard work. It’s a seemingly lighter goal after the failed week, something we now know a single “Game Master” named Joel directly controls.

Seeking to redeem themselves and put the true spread (of democracy) back on track, many players have traveled to Veld. The planet has never seen a herculean defense quite like this, with hundreds of thousands focusing all their efforts on a single location.

In fact, at the time of writing, approximately 300,000 of the game’s 420,000 competing players, all seek to free Veld. The nearest planet hosts only 18,000 Helldivers in comparison.

It’s clear that the Helldivers 2 community is not taking the recent setback of the Major Order lightly. Thousands are now gathering to cross the new objective, liberating Veld and restoring Super Earth’s good name in the process.
