Helldivers 2 players demand overhaul of “frustrating” progression system

The Helldivers 2 community is feeling some frustration with the progress of Liberation in the game and wants to see some changes.

Helldivers 2 revolves around the spread of democracy as players work together to free various planets from all kinds of threats.

As the community completes missions on each planet, the Liberation of that planet increases, leading to various rewards and mission completion.

However, many Helldivers 2 players are frustrated with this system and have changes they would like to see made.

Helldivers 2 fans want Liberation progression to change

The issues and potential solutions are being discussed on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, where one player suggested a change to Liberation progression – making higher difficulty missions count more towards the meter.

I wish the harder mission counted more towards liberation than easier ones. byu/Not_so_ghetto inHelldivers

“It would give a little more incentive to try some of these harder missions other than for the experience plus I think it makes more sense, the harder the mission, the more damage you’ve done to the enemy, ” they explain.

As the poster argues, this would take nothing away from new players. If anything, it would give them a reason to get better at the game and take on those higher difficulty levels.

For the most part, the community agrees that something needs to change in the way progression works in Helldivers 2 and has its own ideas.

“I think we should get mission release with a bonus for completing a set. It’s very frustrating to join random groups only to have the group disband after a race and not get any progression for it,” said one.

Many Helldivers 2 fans point to the fact that tackling the easier, quicker missions is a much more efficient way to liberate a planet, leaving the harder missions somewhat pointless.

Some can understand the decision to keep everything equal to try and reduce any toxicity, as well as help new players feel like they are contributing. In defense of Helldivers 2, one user mentions that harder missions offer greater rewards through XP and obtaining more War Medals.

It remains to be seen if any of these changes would be viable or if it’s just fans theorizing together. It will be up to the Helldivers 2 developers to determine if anything needs to change.
