Helldivers 2 players have discovered a crucial difference on the PS5 that offers a considerable buff compared to PC users.
Since its launch, Helldivers 2 has been a runaway success, quickly climbing the Steam charts with PlayStation’s first simultaneous launch on PC. The game became a hit, drawing hundreds of thousands of players into missions daily, sometimes to the point of overwhelming the developers.
With servers sometimes struggling, the game revealed some of its imperfections. However, it is only now, a month after launch, that one of the biggest problems has come to light.
It turns out that PS5 players may benefit from a slightly more forgiving difficulty curve when facing Terminides. Quick tests have revealed a major console-exclusive buff.
Twitch streamer ‘ Maplewood ‘ was among the first to notice a glaring difference between Helldivers 2 on PS5 and PC. After devoting over 230 hours to the game, he began to notice that the Corrosive Titans did not pose an equal threat to all.
By performing some live tests, he demonstrated that the largest Terminide enemy so far could be taken out with just three Railgun shots. At least, that’s the case if the lobby is hosted by a PS5 player.
On the other hand, if a PC player is hosting the lobby, it may take up to a dozen Railgun shots. The streamer therefore concluded that “games hosted by PS5 players increase the damage dealt by special weapons to Corrosive Titans.”
Currently, it appears that this issue only affects squads fighting Corrosive Titans. It also seems that the host itself does not benefit from the damage increase, only its teammates.

In summary, if possible, you should look to have a PS5 player host your games to take on the Terminids in the near future if you want to save yourself the trouble. So far, developers have yet to publicly address this distinction between platforms.
But as with all fringe issues, it’s probably only a matter of time before it’s on their radar.
