Helldivers: 2 Players Save Steam Rating After PSN Backflip

Within 24 hours of the recent PSN drama’s resolution, Helldivers 2 players have come together to boost the game’s ‘Mostly Positive’ Steam rating.

In recent days, there has been a heated dispute among Helldivers 2 players, developers, and publishers after PlayStation required Steam users to link their accounts to PSN. This decision sparked outrage among players, resulting in a massive review bomb as a form of protest.

Despite receiving negative feedback, PlayStation responded by reversing their decision and canceling the update launch that would have made the change permanent. As a result, Helldivers 2 remained in the ‘Mostly Negative’ category on Steam.

The players have been urging each other to modify their negative reviews or write positive ones in order to counteract the negative impact. Similar to the numerous Major Orders in Helldivers 2, the community successfully completed this task in a surprisingly brief period of time.

In less than 24 hours since PlayStation reversed its decision regarding the PSN requirement, the Helldivers 2 community has successfully restored the game’s ‘Mostly Positive’ rating. This achievement is a result of their united effort to demonstrate their appreciation to PlayStation and Arrowhead for listening to their feedback.

The dramatic shift in the game’s reviews has incited a range of responses from notable figures in the community, such as the Act Man. Witnessing the swift change in the Helldivers’ rating to ‘Mixed’, he praised the fanbase as “a formidable force”.

Despite receiving a high number of negative reviews during the PSN controversy, Helldivers 2 currently maintains a total of 603,289 Steam reviews. However, players were able to significantly improve the overall rating by converting 70% of the negative reviews into positive ones through either editing their original reviews or writing new ones.

It appears that a significant portion of this endeavor is aimed at making amends to developer Arrowhead Games Studios, who allegedly advocated for the desires of players within the company. Public perception towards PlayStation remains somewhat divided, as seen from a recent tweet by Pirate Software.
