Helldivers 2 aficionados aspire to an improvement of the Cerberus stratagem, via a modification of the current backpack mechanism.
The Cerberus (or Guard Dog in original language) is already one of the favorite Stratagems of Helldivers 2 players, given that it serves as a drone resembling a flying turret. Like all Stratagems in Helldivers 2, this one has its drawbacks – the drone’s small submachine gun consumes ammo quickly.
Some players have identified another issue affecting the Cerberus’ effectiveness on the battlefield. He tends to fire as soon as an enemy notices the player. This plunges the soldiers into combat even if they are not ready.
According to fans, a small change to Helldivers 2’s backpack could easily rectify the problem.
Helldivers 2 Players Suggest Backpack Adjustment for Cerberus
“You should be able to ‘put away’ your Cerberus for reasons of discretion,” reads the title of a Reddit post from a player tired of his Cerberus being spotted.
The user then noted that his teammates were repeatedly overwhelmed because “a Cerberus entered the fight before we were ready.”Having the ability to store the drone at leisure would help enormously, he concluded.

Overall, Helldivers 2 players agreed that the Cerberus mechanic needs an adjustment. One person replied: “There’s already a dedicated button for the backpack so yeah that would be nice.”
Another user suggested something similar. Indeed, he clarified that the existing backpack prompt could be used to order Cerberus to “stay heel” .
Elsewhere in the thread, someone claimed that they no longer use this Stratagem because its control is too limited. “Absolutely. It’s frankly ridiculous that we can’t control it. I stopped using them for this very reason.”
It is unclear whether Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead plans to modify the Cerberus Stratagem. But it’s a request that’s obviously at the top of many gamers’ wish lists.
