Fans of Helldivers 2 with keen observation skills have noticed a familiar enemy from the first game, causing concern about potential new units that may join the Automaton army.
Fans of the game have recently been sharing sightings of what appear to be decommissioned Warlords on the subreddit dedicated to the game. One user even shared screenshots they captured of these sightings.
Despite their absence in Helldivers 2, these hostile machines may soon make an appearance. Several seemingly deactivated Warlords have been sighted on various Automaton planets.
The heavily-armored robotic hulks were typically reserved for higher difficulty missions. Their dense defenses made them a much greater threat compared to the normal Automaton units encountered on lower difficulties.
Their opponents often regarded them as a formidable adversary, as their weaponry gave them the ability to attack from a considerable distance and inflict significant damage. Additionally, their armor rendered conventional weapons ineffective, necessitating the use of stronger tools and Stratagems in order to defeat them in battle.

A user suggests that this would align with the established lore of Helldivers 2, as stated in the HD1 Encyclopedia, which states that Warlords are the rulers of Cyborg society. It is hoped that these Warlords will make an appearance now that the Automatons have freed the Cyborgs who were enslaved in Cyberstan.
Upon discovering these massive units, many fans seemed unaware of their purpose. However, now that they have come to understand, their fear has only intensified. As one person expressed, “May Liberty save us all.”
Naturally, these are not the sole adversaries that the community has been eagerly anticipating to encounter once more. For the past few months, devotees of Helldivers 2 have been fervently requesting any indication of the Illuminate faction’s return.
