Helldivers 2’s “Ridiculous” Fire Damage to Be Improved in Future Updates

Despite players’ continued complaints, the developers of Helldivers 2 have assured that they will look into the excessive fire damage that has been reported since the latest buff.

Earlier this month, the 01.000.200 patch for Helldivers 2 was released, bringing with it weapon buffs, two additional planetary hazards, and various balance changes.

Despite the community’s disappointment, the update also introduced a buff that greatly amplified fire damage from any source. Helldivers 2 players have been vocal about their frustrations, with many claiming that fire now has the ability to instantly eliminate players.

According to a recent message on Discord by Twinbeard, an Arrowhead developer, changes regarding fire were discussed (via PCGamesN). When asked about potential fire-related changes, the developer confirmed that they were indeed being considered.

Twinbeard enthusiastically stated, “Absolutely! We’re currently tackling the whole ‘fire’ issue. This includes things like [damage per second], [damage over time], the host aspect, and ensuring that players don’t instantly die from touching it. We’ll likely implement fixes in stages, but rest assured, we’re on top of it like Donkey Kong on barrels!”

In a separate response, the developer of Helldivers 2 expressed their opinion on the current state of fire damage, describing it as “absurd.”They also mentioned that the necessary improvements will be released gradually due to the complexity of the process.

As for the timeframe of when the highly anticipated changes will be implemented, Arrowhead has not provided any definitive answers. However, players can now rest assured that improvements are in the works.

Until the updates are implemented, it is important for users to note that the diving feature is able to put out fires much faster than a health stim.
