Helldivers Players Advocate for Reintroduction of Classic Damage Types in Sequel

Helldivers 2 offers a range of different damage types, but there is one classic from its predecessor that must make a comeback.

Despite having a variety of damage types such as incendiary, explosive, and three types of armor piercing, Helldivers 2 does not currently offer a toxic (poison) damage type, which is something that players are eagerly requesting.

The initial Helldivers game featured a poison-based damage type, with the TOX-13 Avenger and AR-14D Paragon being popular choices. These weapons were able to fire poisonous ammunition, making them a highly enjoyable feature of the previous installment.

Helldivers 2 has the potential to seamlessly incorporate this feature with the use of Gas-type weapons. At present, players have access to a Gas Stratagem known as the Orbital Gas Strike. However, the addition of gas-based weapons would greatly enhance the players’ arsenal.

Many individuals on Reddit expressed their desire for the return of the poison pack in Helldivers. One passionate fan even stated that if this damage type were to come back, they would immediately purchase it.

Helldivers 2 offers a wide range of diversity with plenty of room for variety. The concept of poison is not new, as it was also featured in the previous Helldivers game and another popular title, Destiny 2. This type of damage adds an enjoyable element to gameplay, as enemies slowly succumb to the ticking damage and are ultimately shredded down.

This will be classified as damage over time, like the Incendiary. Nevertheless, it will introduce a fresh style of gameplay, which is always a positive inclusion.

Currently, the addition of poison to the game may just be wishful thinking, as the game has been released for less than six months. Regardless of whether poison is ultimately added, players can continue to anticipate its potential inclusion in the future.
