Helldivers players boycott Warbonds due to “borderline unethical” nerfs

The Helldivers 2 community plans to abstain from purchasing future premium Warbonds in order to demonstrate their disapproval of the “unethical”nerfs that have been decreasing the effectiveness of Primary weapons.

From its initial release, Helldivers 2 has encountered a persistent problem with nerfs that have been perceived by players as diminishing the usefulness of Primary weapons.

Many players have noticed that the developers tend to decrease the damage for weapons once they become popular among the community. As a result, many individuals have begun to feel that the Primaries in the game are becoming less important in comparison to other options.

Following a recent decrease in the Eruptor’s damage due to a nerf, the Helldivers 2 community has decided to boycott future Warbonds in the game as a form of protest.

The primary concern being raised by fans is that they are hesitant to work towards unlocking something that may soon be weakened. A user on the subreddit voices this concern by asking, “Why invest in warbonds if the guns are going to be nerfed to the point of being unusable?”

The Eruptor was the last straw for fans in Helldivers 2’s nerf issue.

Some people also share this viewpoint, as one player mentions that this approach is hindering their sense of advancement. They are constantly striving to obtain new weapons to bolster their army, only to have them weakened.

The latest reductions to a handful of weapons have also caused frustration among fans, particularly since the previous Warbond event heavily featured powerful, explosive weapons.

One player of Helldivers 2 complained, “First they nerfed the crossbow, then the Eruptor, leaving my last warbond useless as it is now just a grenade pistol that I never use.”

This has prompted many of them to refuse participation in the Warbonds program in the future as they no longer wish to face the constant nerfs.

Despite the belief of some individuals, grinding for new weapons may seem pointless if their strengths are ultimately going to be eliminated.

Moreover, since Warbonds are the source of revenue for Helldivers 2’s microtransactions, any loss in this income could potentially catch the developers’ attention.

Boycotts would undoubtedly attract attention, especially since the game recently faced a significant backlash from the community due to the announcement that a PSN account would be necessary for those playing on Steam.

The successful campaign resulted in Sony reversing their decision, leaving the Helldivers 2 fanbase feeling empowered and capable of making an impact.

It is yet to be determined what the change will be, if it will even occur. In the meantime, the players will have to be patient and see if the developers address their issues.
