Hidden Cameo in Deadpool/Wolverine Movie

Hidden Cameo in Deadpool/Wolverine Movie

Rob McElhenney has a role in both Deadpool and Wolverine, but if you didn’t notice the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor, it was intentional.

Deadpool & Wolverine is full of hidden references and guest appearances (don’t worry, we won’t reveal any here), playfully mocking the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s films while also honoring the Fox era.

Ryan Reynolds also included his friends and family in the production, such as casting his children (specifically Inez and Olin) as different versions of Deadpool.

Similarly, the co-owner of Wrexham AFC makes a brief appearance in the film, although McElhenney’s face is never shown.

During Welcome to Wrexham Season 3, his role was finally unveiled. Reynolds, in fact, made a promise to give him a part in the upcoming Deadpool film.

“To ensure confidentiality, all of this is kept hidden and inaudible,”he explains, as the show blurs out the set and censors any story elements. McElhenney later joins Reynolds in his trailer, but his clothing is concealed under a bulky anorak.

“Reynolds states that he is unable to definitively disclose the character that Rob portrays, but it is possible that it is him. This is followed by several scenes featuring various TVA agents wearing masks.”

It is evident that McElhenney is donning a TVA suit and helmet in Deadpool & Wolverine. We can only hope that he is not one of the agents who suffers a fatal beating in the opening scene.

This mirrors Daniel Craig’s brief appearance in The Force Awakens. Rather than being shown on screen as one would assume, he was actually cast as a background stormtrooper (more specifically, the one who frees Rey from her restraints).

Following their panel, which caused widespread anger among Marvel fans, you can also stay updated on all the announcements from San Diego Comic-Con 2024.
