Netflix has recently announced their new additions for September 2024, including an anime movie that is a must-watch.
In 2023, Blue Giant was released with little fanfare due to its lack of franchise connections and being created by lesser-known filmmakers. Despite its jazz theme, the anime movie was only given a limited release in October of that year in America and Britain.
It’s unfortunate that many did not see the excellent film when it was released, but now there is a perfect opportunity. As of September 1, 2024, subscribers in the US can watch Blue Giant on Netflix.
The plot centers on Dai Miyamoto, a high-school student whose fascination with jazz is sparked by listening to some saxophone music. He later relocates to Tokyo in order to pursue his passion for music, and despite initial setbacks, his determination only grows stronger.
The film adaptation of Blue Giant, based on the manga by Shinichi Ishizuka, was directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and produced by NUT. It covers the fourth installment of the manga, which follows Dai’s journey and growth in the music industry.
This is a significant project for NUT, as their sole previous film was Saga of Tanya the Evil: The Movie in 2019. Yuzuru has a strong track record in the field, having directed popular titles such as Death Parade and Mob Psycho 100.
On Blue Giant, they undoubtedly succeeded in something, as it received a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, individuals living in America can discover the reason for this by subscribing to Netflix.
Thanks to recent additions and additional investments in the industry, the platform now offers a formidable selection of anime.
Netflix will soon be releasing The One Piece, an anime adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, along with other exclusive titles like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Terminator Zero. The addition of Blue Giant only adds to the impressive lineup. Be sure to keep our upcoming anime guide on hand for more must-watch releases.
