The finale of Jujutsu Kaisen has sparked considerable debate among fans, particularly as the manga wraps up shortly after an intense battle. Sukuna encounters Mahito in the soul’s transit after death, where Mahito confronts Sukuna about his true desires, suggesting that Sukuna has deceived himself about wanting to exist authentically.
It’s revealed that Sukuna was not only misleading others but was also lying to himself. Mahito, who has the ability to sense souls, discerns that Sukuna’s existence is a mere facade. The King of Curses is actually driven by a desire for vengeance against those who deemed him an abomination.
In a reflective moment, Sukuna expresses that he had two potential life paths, and if given a chance at rebirth, he would choose differently. As he offers comfort to a weeping Uraume, they depart, leaving a furious Mahito in their wake. The last image in the manga depicts Sukuna’s finger confined within a small shed.

The narrative commences with Sukuna’s finger being utilized to protect a locale from curses, and it concludes with the final finger serving a similar protective role. Despite his nefarious nature, Sukuna has been employed as a safeguard for centuries and continues to have that function even after his second demise.
An observant fan pointed out the box’s inscription on Twitter/X, and the response has resonated with the community.
One fan notes, “So the finger has transformed into a talisman of sorts. Instead of attracting curses, it now repels them, especially with the shrine left open and the surrounding atmosphere calm and serene.”
“If I remember correctly, the symbolism of a shrine or container for a spiritual object being slightly opened signifies the spirit moving on,” adds another fan.
“This made me revisit the first chapter to check what the box where Megumi discovered the finger said. Interestingly, it bears the same Kanji. It’s fascinating to consider that since this is the only finger left and Sukuna is keen on following a new path, things are bound to change,” a third user remarks.
