Hidden Traitor in One Piece Manga – Is Anyone Paying Attention?

As the Egghead Incident comes to a close, one of the Gorosei is replaced by a mysterious figure who might be a traitor.

One Piece manga has recently wrapped up the Egghead Incident, with the crew setting sail for their next destination: Elbaf. The incident ended dramatically with Imu eliminating one of the Gorosei, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. To sustain the power dynamics among the world’s highest authorities, Saint Figarland Garling steps in to fill the void left by the deceased elder.

Garling shares a connection with Yonko Shanks, known as one of the most formidable pirates in the world. While the series has yet to clarify their relationship, a widely discussed theory indicates that Garling may betray the World Government.

One Piece frequently introduces a traitor to intensify its narrative, including characters like Viola, Kanjuro, and York. As a Celestial Dragon and Commander of the Holy Knights, Garling’s potential betrayal would mark a shocking twist in the storyline.

According to translator Sandman, “Figarland Garling may be based on Yuri Gagarin, the first man to go into space. Gagarin is said to have stated, ‘I see no God up here’. This could imply that Figarland Garling will betray Imu or the other Five Elders in the future.”

A notable theorist stated, “Galing = Galileo Galilei. Galileo was the first to make detailed and scientific observations of the Moon using a telescope and also studied the stars of the Milky Way.”

“Honestly, it would make sense. A moon-themed character closely tied to Shanks could be a thematic final boss for Luffy. Plus, in the OG Romance Dawn (the two versions can be confusing), Luffy’s antagonist was a character with moon-shaped facial hair,” remarked one fan.

The One Piece manga is gearing up to begin the second arc of the Final Saga. Many fans are excited to explore why Egghead is considered the best arc so far.
