On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, HIDIVE revealed the release dates for the English dubs of their highly-anticipated Summer 2024 anime lineup, which includes the second season of Oshi no Ko and other popular titles. The English dubs will start airing on Thursday, August 29, 2024 and continue to be released on the platform. However, the English dub for the mentioned sequel series will not be available until September 2024.
The Oshi no Ko season 2 English dub is set to premiere on HIDIVE’s platform on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 1PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). HIDIVE has confirmed that new episodes will be released weekly on Fridays until all 13 episodes have been adapted.
Oshi no Ko Season 2 English Dub Premiere Set for Mid-September 2024
HIDIVE has announced that in addition to the English dub for Oshi no Ko season 2, they will also be producing dubs for the anime series I Parry Everything and the original television anime Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night. The former is set to premiere on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 1PM EDT, while the latter will begin on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 1PM EDT on the platform.
Regrettably, none of the three series provided any further details regarding their English dubbed versions, including the cast and required dubbing personnel. It is also uncertain, at the time of writing this article, if this information will be disclosed in the upcoming weeks prior to their individual debuts.
It is expected that the upcoming second season of Oshi no Ko’s English dub will feature a number of familiar cast members reprising their roles. These include Jack Stansbury as Aquamarine Hoshino, Kristen McGuire as Akane Kurokawa, Natalie Rial as Kana Arima, Alyssa Marek as Ruby Hoshino, and Kelly Greenshield as Yoriko Kichijouji. Additionally, Shannon D. Reed as ADR Director and Jake Jung in Translation are both anticipated to return as part of the staff.
During the Summer 2024 anime season, five new series will be premiering on the platform. These include Oshi no Ko, I Parry Everything, 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, Dungeon People, and Plus-Sized Elf. The second season of Oshi no Ko began airing on July 3, followed by I Parry Everything on July 4, 2.5 Dimensional Seduction and Dungeon People on July 5, and Plus-Sized Elf on July 6. As of the time of writing, there has been no announcement regarding English dubs for the other Summer 2024 anime.
Season 2 is a continuation of the television anime adaptation of the original manga series, titled “Kaguya-sama: Love is War,”written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. The manga was first published in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020 and is currently ongoing. To date, the manga has been collected into 15 volumes.
