During the events of the June K-drama, Kang Ha, a seemingly ordinary scholarship student at Jooshin High School, is on a mission to uncover a deeply hidden secret among the elite and powerful students. He is determined to reveal the truth, despite the challenges he may face.
Kang Ha has set his sights on Jooshin High School’s top students – Jae-yi, Ri-an, He-ra, and Woo-jin – in hopes of uncovering the truth behind his brother’s murder. This upheaval disrupts the established hierarchy and creates chaos as the influential students are forced to face the consequences of their actions.
The seven-episode K-drama captivates its audience until the very end, revealing a shocking truth. Caution: Spoilers ahead!
Hierarchy ending: Who killed In Han?
It was revealed that Ji-soo, a teacher at Jooshin High School, was responsible for the hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of In Han. This was done in an attempt to hide her inappropriate relationship with Woo-jin.
Since the beginning of the K-drama, viewers are made to believe that Jae-yi and Ri-an were somehow involved in In Han’s murder. In Han, a scholarship student, had formed a friendship with Jae-yi, but was subjected to intense bullying as a result.
Despite being the king of Jooshin and in a committed relationship with Jae-yi, Ri-an continued to allow his friends to bully him. Tragically, one of his friends, In Han, was killed in a hit-and-run accident. To cover up the details of what truly happened, Jooshin intervened and concealed the truth. It was not until scholarship student Kang Ha joined the school that the truth began to unravel.
In the K-drama, he also becomes close with Jae Yi and begins to have feelings for her, causing tension with Ri-an. Despite their mutual love, Jae-yi ultimately decides to end things with Ri-an, and the reason for their breakup will be revealed later on.
Kang Ha’s search for answers disrupts the established social hierarchy of Jooshin. In the fourth episode of the K-drama, it is revealed that Kang Ha is In Han’s long-lost twin brother. Due to living apart, their connection was never known by the school and its students.
The hierarchy deceived others into thinking that Jae-yi was responsible for In Han’s death because he was aware of the truth about her pregnancy with Ri-an’s child. In reality, she had only confessed to Kang Han about getting an abortion.
After ruling out Jae-yi and Ri-an as suspects in In Han’s murder, the question remains: who is truly responsible? The truth is finally revealed in Hierarchy Episode 7.
The Truth is Revealed
Despite their inappropriate student-teacher relationship, Woo-jin and Ji-soo have maintained a close bond. It has recently been discovered that early in their relationship, Ji-soo had wanted to congratulate Woo-jin on his birthday.
On the same day, In Han was severely bullied by the others at the party, which was witnessed by Jae-yi. After running away, In Han comes across Woo-jin and Ji-soo in a compromising position.
Woo-jin assures that he will handle the situation, but Ji-soo frantically pursues In Han in an attempt to stop him. In her haste, she collides her blue BMW with In Han, only to discover that his pen was actually a hidden camera that captured everything.
Woo-jin was completely unaware of Ji-soo’s actions at the time. He was only aware that she had driven his car and that it had been involved in an accident, but he didn’t know that she had covered it up to protect his father, who was a politician.
During a tell-all conversation with Jae-yi, he confesses everything and shares that he recently discovered In Han’s pen, uncovering the truth.
Ji-soo’s Disappearance
Ji-soo is taken into custody for the murder of In Han, while other students falsely confess to bullying In Han and fellow classmates.
Prior to Woo-jin revealing the truth to Jae-yi, Ji-soo is summoned to the principal’s office. The video that Woo-jin had shared exposed her secret relationship, but in order to preserve the school’s reputation, she is advised to remain silent.
It has also been revealed that the principal was aware of Ji-soo’s involvement in In Han’s murder from the beginning, yet chose to keep it hidden for Jooshin’s benefit. Ji-soo informs Woo-jin that she has decided to step down from her position.
However, the story doesn’t end with Woo-jin handing Jae-yi the pen recorder. Kang Ha uses it to incriminate Ji-soo and presents it to the authorities, ultimately achieving justice for his brother. As a result, Ji-soo is taken into custody for the murder.
The conclusion of Hierarchy sees all of the characters confronting their wrongdoings. Ri-an reveals his involvement in bullying In Han, and Jae-yi’s decision to have an abortion is made known to the public. Despite their renewed romantic relationship, Ri-an and Jae-yi face the consequences together.
Jooshin has reverted back to its previous state, although the dynamics have shifted. The hierarchical structure has come to an end with Kang Ha successfully seeking revenge for his brother. Additionally, Jae-yi has broken away from her father’s abusive behavior and is now starting fresh with her mother.
