Highly-requested MW3 PC Game Pass icon fix makes cheaters easier to spot

Activision has released an update to address the issue with icons, which caused PC players to be displayed as Xbox console players upon the launch of the MW3 Game Pass.

Since the Game Pass launch on July 24, MW3 and Warzone have experienced a significant increase in reports of cheating. To add to the issue, players on PC Game Pass were being identified with the Xbox console icon.

This caused a lot of confusion among players who believed they were competing against other players on the same console. However, they were actually playing against PC Game Pass users, some of whom were using a mouse and keyboard. This made it more difficult to identify hackers, prompting the developers to promptly release an update to their detection system.

As of July 30, an update has been released by Activision to resolve the issue. It has also been confirmed that PC players who are using the Game Pass will now have the correct icon displayed.

MW3 PC Game Pass players are now identifiable by the standard PC icon, providing other players with information about their platform. Additionally, the icon indicates whether the player is using a controller or a mouse and keyboard.

The impact on gameplay can be significant when it comes to the variation in these inputs, which is why it caused a lot of uncertainty when Xbox users showed up as mouse and keyboard players.

Despite the icon appearing to cause issues, Activision has assured players that RICOCHET is still able to accurately identify a player’s platform. However, players remain convinced that the presence of this icon has led to an increase in cheaters.

After successfully resolving the issue, Warzone and MW3 players are eagerly anticipating an enhanced gaming experience. This is particularly significant as Activision was also able to shut down two additional major cheat providers following the settlement with EngineOwning.
