According to fans, Netflix has discovered a worthy successor to Superbad in Incoming, which has been praised as one of the top comedies of 2024.
During the late noughties’ R-rated comedy boom, Superbad, the iconic 2007 movie starring Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, was released.
It is without a doubt one of the top contenders among its peers. Despite many attempts, only a few films have been able to achieve the same level of success as Superbad. However, there is a potential contender on Netflix, according to the opinions of its viewers.
The premise of Incoming is quite recognizable: four teenage boys begin their high school journey and prepare for a major social event. Dave and John Chernin, the film’s co-writers and directors, mentioned Superbad, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Can’t Hardly Wait as major inspirations for their project.
“During our conversation with Netflix, we expressed our long-standing desire to write a high school movie. For over 15 years, we have been brainstorming and jotting down ideas for this type of film, holding onto small moments that we envisioned for it.”
Despite receiving a 22% score on Rotten Tomatoes, people have been enjoying it, if one chooses to disregard the criticism from critics.
