Himawari could break the female character curse in Boruto before Sarada

Despite Himawari’s best efforts, she was unable to defeat Jura in Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 11, which was released on June 21, 2024. Similarly, Sarada was also defeated by Hidari, indicating that the curse that had plagued the Hyuga descendants since Naruto Next Generations may continue, despite hopes of Sarada breaking it.

The chapter featured the protagonist’s triumphant return as he rescued his sister and Sarada from the clutches of the God Trees. While the protagonist’s sister put up a valiant fight against the God tree, Sarada was ultimately defeated.

It was not unexpected, as the ‘female character curse’ has been present in the series since the beginning. While Sarada could be viewed as the deuteragonist in Naruto Next Generations, the role of protagonist sister may be better suited for her in the Two Blue Vortex series, considering the series’ title and the development of her character thus far.

The eleventh chapter of Boruto Two Blue Vortex began with Himawari using her healing abilities to save Inojin from a fatal injury. She then instructed the InoShikaCho trio to retreat and face their enemy, Jura, alone. Despite just tapping into her Kurama chakra, the main character’s sister put up a strong fight against the formidable God Tree.

Despite her efforts, she was able to match the power of Jura’s Tailed Beast Bomb. However, when Jura revealed a small portion of his true strength, he easily overpowered the protagonist’s sister. Meanwhile, Sarada questioned a bound Hidari about his true identity.

Despite Hidari’s annoyance with her questions, he managed to escape and render everyone motionless. He then closed in on Sarada, intending to consume her just as he had consumed Sasuke. However, the protagonist made a surprise entrance and saved both his sister and old friend from Hidari’s grasp.

Throughout the duration of the sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, the author has not given any female characters a chance to shine. While the anime has made up for this by featuring female characters in filler episodes, there has yet to be a canon episode where a female character takes center stage.

Sarada, who was the deuteragonist of Naruto Next Generations, is a prime example as she only had a few brief moments in the series. Despite awakening the Mangekyou Sharingan at the end of the series, she has not yet utilized it in the sequel, Two Blue Vortex series.

From the beginning of Two Blue Vortex, Himawari has been extensively involved in the plotline. While there is a possibility that her memories were not affected, what set her apart was her inheritance of her father’s Nine-Tail Fox powers.

In addition, her battle against Jura also aligned her with the fight against the antagonists. As a result, the protagonist’s sister may have the potential to break the ‘female character curse’ instead of Sarada. This is further supported by the connection between the Uzumaki siblings and the two in Two Blue Vortex.
