The Hollow Knight Silksong page has been added to the Microsoft Store, causing fans to react strongly to the placeholder release date of the highly anticipated game.
Despite the ongoing anticipation for Hollow Knight Silksong, it appears that fans will have to endure an even longer wait if the information on the game’s Microsoft Store page is accurate.
As fans have noticed, Silksong now has a page on the Microsoft Store. This could typically signal an approaching release date for the game. However, the specified date of December 29, 9998, has left fans questioning if they will ever have the opportunity to play the highly anticipated Metroidvania sequel.

One Twitter user stated that fans of Silksong must literally discover the secret to eternal life in order to play this game.
Some people playfully rejoiced at the announcement, with one person commenting, “We still have 7974 years left, let’s do this!”
Clearly, the 9998 release year is simply a temporary placeholder, as Hollow Knight Silksong still does not have a confirmed release date or window.
Since the initial plan was for the game to launch in the first half of 2023 and be featured in the June 2022 Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase alongside other titles scheduled for release within the next year, Team Cherry revealed in May 2023 that there would be a delay due to ongoing development and the game’s expansion in scope.
There have been multiple indications that fans can hold onto their excitement for Silksong. Earlier this year, the game received age ratings in both Australia and South Korea, and a wishlist page was added on the Xbox Store last month. Although the developers have been relatively silent, it is becoming more and more probable that news about Hollow Knight Silksong will be announced in the near future – and fans will not have to endure an impossibly long wait for it.
