Hollow Purple’s next target in Jujutsu Kaisen: Malevolent Shrine and the logic behind it

In chapter 262-2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the regulations regarding cursed techniques became even more intricate as Inumaki demonstrated the use of cursed speech from a distance. At the same time, Yuta’s difficulties in controlling Gojo’s power exposed his incapability to effectively fight while in Gojo’s body.

As the chapter came to a close, there was much speculation among fans about whether Yuta’s planned attack would be enough to defeat Sukuna. However, there were also worries about the possibility of Yuta’s hollow purple backfiring. Despite these uncertainties, many fans are excited about the potential for this event to lead to Yuji’s eventual return and a highly anticipated confrontation with Sukuna. This could potentially shape the story towards a long-awaited showdown.

The battle between Yuta and Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 262-2 intensified as Sukuna shared his inner thoughts on Gojo’s fighting style and choices, adding to the tension. Throughout the fight, Sukuna made numerous observations, noting that even though Yuta has the powerful Infinity Technique and Six Eyes, he is still far from Gojo’s level.

Throughout the battle, Yuta continuously stumbled and misjudged the distance between himself and Sukuna. In the middle of the chapter, he suddenly began charging a hollow purple directly in front of Sukuna, causing the latter to question his actions. Sukuna even went as far as to comment on Yuta’s lack of understanding of Gojo’s choices, which ultimately resulted in Yuta detonating a hollow purple by colliding Red and Blue separately.

Yuta managed to freeze Sukuna in his tracks using a recorder with Inumaki’s recorded voice, concluding Chapter 262-2. However, some fans pointed out that the two orbs representing the fusion of Red and Blue to form Hollow Purple did not merge during Yuta’s preparation.

Despite initial suggestions from fans that it could be an oversight from Gege, this notion was quickly disproved, as all other occurrences of hollow purple usage clearly depict the orbs merging.

Despite Yuta’s lack of knowledge about Gojo’s techniques and resulting carelessness in battle, there is much speculation among fans that his hollow purple may backfire. It is certain that Yuta’s attack will not eliminate Sukuna, as the latter’s role in the story is currently focused on a direct and long-term conflict with Yuji Itadori. Thematically, this implies that only Yuji can ultimately defeat Sukuna.

The ongoing battles between sorcerers and Sukuna have consistently resulted in Sukuna being weakened to some extent.

Thus, it is highly likely that Yuta’s hollow purple could fail to achieve its desired outcome. Nevertheless, Yuta may have prepared for this possibility and ensured that his hollow purple retains some effectiveness. Until now, Sukuna’s domain expansion has posed the most significant obstacle for the sorcerers, making it possible that Yuta’s hollow purple is aimed at the shrine.

Yuta’s main goal could be to neutralize Sukuna’s domain and inflict damage on him using the Infinite Void, even if it is only for a brief moment. This choice is in line with the fact that Yuji has weakened the bond between Sukuna and Megumi, potentially hindering Sukuna’s ability to transfer all of the brain damage onto Megumi.

Yuta’s plan to attack Sukuna’s shrine could potentially weaken him, allowing Yuji and Todo to successfully defeat him. This could also pave the way for the highly anticipated domain battle between Yuji and Sukuna, as predicted by fans for months.

Without a doubt, Chapter 263 is highly anticipated and scheduled for release on July 14, 2024. The paneling of chapter 262-2 strongly suggested the success of Inumaki’s cursed technique, but there is still a chance for Sukuna to break free. This possibility is heightened by his frequent use of binding vows.
