A homeowner was disgusted after discovering a plant had grown through her wall, leading the internet to believe that her house may be in danger.
While cleaning her house, Olivia, also known as ‘oliviaaa1017’ on TikTok, stumbled upon a discovery behind her TV cabinet, innocently going about her own business.
Olivia was taken aback and disgusted when she noticed a plant growing from the wall, resembling an ivy of some sort. In search of a solution, she turned to TikTok and asked her viewers for advice on how to handle the unexpected situation.

Despite Olivia’s initial doubts, she admitted in the comments that she had managed to “pull it out”and remove the problem. However, other commenters quickly pointed out that there might be a larger issue at hand.
“Based on the visible mold, it appears that you may have a moisture issue. It would be wise to have an inspector examine the area where your foundation meets the walls,”suggested one individual, with several others concurring that water damage could be the probable cause.
Additionally, some individuals noted that the plant seemed to be a highly invasive species that could potentially pose ongoing issues for Olivia’s home. They mentioned that it resembled ivy, which is known for its ability to grow through structures and has extremely resilient roots, making it difficult to permanently remove.
One user noted that “the roots themselves could potentially cause damage as they grow,”while another agreed, adding that “it has the potential to completely destroy your house.”

In a subsequent video, Olivia expressed gratitude for the numerous comments informing her that she was “basically f*****” and shared that she had found three holes in her wall and a possible new root after removing the plant.
“Olivia recounted going outside her house to investigate and discovering that her wall was completely covered in ivy. She suspected that the plant had entered through a small hole meant for the TV cable. This discovery prompted her to schedule an inspection for Monday, as she feared that there may be mold or a hidden greenhouse behind the wall of her house.”

Luckily for Olivia, the inspector’s third update confirmed that her house was not affected by mold. However, they were advised to remove all the ivy attached to their house.
According to her, those who claimed that ivy is extremely invasive were right. The ivy managed to get under our siding and push through our baseboard at the slab. However, the final solution ended up being much simpler than Olivia had originally expected.
