Horikoshi’s Confirmation of Toga’s Survival in My Hero Academia

The story of My Hero Academia is nearing its conclusion, with the manga currently in its epilogue. While the survival of numerous characters has been confirmed, the fate of Toga remains uncertain.

Despite this, there have been fans who have put forward theories on how Toga could have potentially survived. Additionally, there are some who believe that Hawks, currently serving as the president of the Public Safety Commission, may have a pivotal part to play in the handling of future villains.

A Reddit user named Gregorytheokay has proposed a theory about Himiko Toga’s potential survival and rehabilitation in the latest My Hero Academia epilogue chapters. These chapters also revealed new developments such as Hawks forming a partnership with Lady Nagant.

The chapters presented impactful societal changes, as Hawks and Nagant strategized about their implementation. With Hawks now leading the Public Safety Commission and the removal of the word “hero”from its title, this may indicate a move towards abolishing the labels of ‘hero’ and ‘villain’.

By providing Toga with a rehabilitation program, Hawks would effectively highlight the changing attitudes of society. Toga’s survival, as evidenced by her conversation with Curious, is a testament to this shift. Despite Curious’ desire to use Toga as a martyr and a warning, even Skeptic utilized her as an example in his “The Tragedy of Himiko Toga plays out to this day”poster.

Despite Hawk’s ideas and policies potentially facing rejection due to the negative portrayal of mutant liberation members, Spinner was able to rise to prominence despite being told by Trumpet of The Metal Liberation Army that he had no real worth. In fact, Spinner became one of the most influential figures in the war.

If Toga were to survive and become a symbol of societal redemption for former villains, it would hold great thematic and profound significance. Although Toga’s final appearance was during the intense battle between Uraraka and herself, where she selflessly donated her blood to save Uraraka, this act was interpreted by some fans as her last gesture before death. However, it remains a viable possibility that the reporters intervened and halted the transfusion before Toga’s demise.

In My Hero Academia, with its vast array of quirks and advanced healing technology, Toga has a good chance of survival. Toga, Hawks, Uraraka, and Twice are all connected to the subplot concerning how society views and treats certain quirks. The recently renamed Public Safety Commission may even use individuals like Toga to demonstrate their stance and work towards reducing prejudice towards these quirks.

Despite Uraraka’s speech largely resonating with the crowd, it specifically struck a chord with Hawks, causing the message of unity to linger in his thoughts. This further suggests that Hawks may seek redemption by taking in Toga as a form of atonement for his actions against Twice.

Final Thoughts

Despite the unknown fate of Toga, she has not been mentioned or addressed in the My Hero Academia epilogue. Nevertheless, there is a strong possibility that she may make an appearance in the future as a member of the Public Safety Commission after a time skip.
