Horikoshi’s Plans for My Hero Academia After Chapter 424: Keep Going for a Little While

Horikoshi’s Plans for My Hero Academia After Chapter 424: Keep Going for a Little While

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, spoilers and raw scans for the next chapter of author and illustrator Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga series were leaked. Although these images and information were not officially released by Shueisha, the series’ spoiler track record has been consistently accurate in comparison to the corresponding official releases.

Similarly, fans of My Hero Academia were ecstatic to discover a comment from the creator, Horikoshi, in the details. The series leaker @RukasuMHA (Rukasu) shared the post on their X/Twitter account. In the quote, Horikoshi expresses his belief that his manga cannot simply conclude after the battles are over, and that he intends to continue it for some time.

Fans were greatly relieved as there were concerns that the series would end on a bleak note, given recent events, and leave several plotlines unresolved. However, even with this relief, My Hero Academia fans remain uncertain about what is to come in the remaining chapters, especially with chapter 424 rumored to be titled “Epilogue.”

My Hero Academia: Updates on Characters, Quirks, and More Before Ending Expected to Span Multiple Chapters

Initially, My Hero Academia will primarily revolve around protagonist Izuku “Deku”Midoriya and his peers experiencing a typical school life. This is supported by Horikoshi’s statement, as shown in the X post above, where he mentions a return to the title. This implies a focus on the “Academia”aspect of the title, as the “Hero”aspect appears to have reached its conclusion.

Similarly, it appears highly likely that the series will conclude with Tenko Shimura/Tomura Shigaraki experiencing a physical death as a result of All For One taking control of his body. The significant time jump in chapter 424, coupled with the characters’ remarks about his demise, solidifies this outcome.

Despite the possibility of Shigaraki’s vestige resurfacing before the conclusion of My Hero Academia, readers will be led to the next significant development in the story. Although chapter 424 reaffirms Deku’s decision to relinquish One For All, it also highlights that even days later, the remaining embers of the Quirk continue to burn within him.

Despite the implication that he will not be able to regain One For All, there is a possibility that he may receive a completely new Quirk created from the merging of One For All and All For One. This could clarify why Deku still senses remnants of One For All and could also provide a means for him to come to terms with Shigaraki/Shimura. Although Deku’s resolution has been satisfactory, it would be satisfying to witness Shigaraki make one final appearance in the series.

Another group of villains that fans are worried about are Hero Killer Stain, Himiko Toga, and Toya Todoroki, also known as Dabi. These three were last seen either severely injured or close to death, and their current statuses have not been updated since. Given their popularity among fans, it is likely that Horikoshi will provide an update on their statuses before the series concludes.

After this point, the series does not have much left to cover that is truly significant. In Chapter 424, Deku, All Might, and Bakugo had their final conversation, and most other characters had their story arcs resolved during the war. While Horikoshi may have some surprises in store for fans, it is probable that the remaining few chapters, no more than 10, will tie up loose ends and bring the series to a close.
