Actors Tom Glynn-Carney and Phia Saban, who play Aegon and Helaena in House of the Dragon, have disclosed that they requested to have more scenes together in the upcoming second season.
Although some pairings, such as Alicent and Criston Cole, may not be favored by fans, there are certain on-screen duos in House of the Dragon Season 2 that many viewers would love to see more of.
Aegon and Helaena, a married pair of siblings, were devastated by a tragic loss when their only son was killed by Blood and Cheese.
Despite their obvious differences (Aegon’s understanding of his sister-wife being no greater than anyone else’s), it was still anticipated that they would be united after their devastating tragedy.
Despite the brief and painful interaction between them in Season 2 Episode 2, the two actors actively campaigned for more screen time together.
Glynn-Carney explained to IndieWire that he and Phia had been advocating for more interaction for a considerable amount of time. Although the amount of interaction they received was limited, they made the best of it.
Despite their brief encounters, the two characters also have a scene together in Season 2 Episode 1. Aegon enters the nursery in search of his son, and Helaena expresses her fear of rats. Perplexed, Aegon makes a lighthearted joke to the maids.
The moment in question quickly spread across social media, causing fans to be divided between those who believed Aegon was attempting to comprehend his sister and those who viewed it as a sorrowful hint of what was to come.
Glynn-Carney expressed that, in his opinion, the two individuals are polar opposites, regardless of what scale is being used. He also noted that their relationship was not a choice, as they were brought together as a family and as parents to their two children.
“Although we approached it from different perspectives, we both strived to establish a connection, a spark that flows between us. I always look forward to our scenes together.”
“Her actions are highly unpredictable. She possesses a fearless talent that makes her a thrilling performer, and I thoroughly enjoy collaborating with individuals like her.”
