House of the Dragon character criticized for “serving face” at inappropriate moment

The second season of House of the Dragon begins with a heartfelt farewell to a deceased son, but a certain character is being criticized for their actions during the funeral.

In the first episode of Season 2 of House of the Dragon, Rhaenyra is mostly seen alone. She is still deeply affected by the loss of her son Lucerys and spends the majority of the episode flying around Dragonstone with her dragon Syrax, consumed by sorrow.

After stumbling upon the remains of both her husband and Arrax, Rhaenyra is overcome with grief. This moment allows her to properly mourn and continue her pursuit of revenge. Together with her other children, she arranges a funeral for Luke as a way to bid him farewell.

Despite the solemnity of his baby brother’s funeral, viewers are still being drawn to Jacaerys, the eldest son of the deceased. The reason? He can’t seem to stop striking poses and “serving face”. While some may argue that a funeral, even if it’s just a symbolic burning of a cloak, is not the appropriate time or place for such behavior, Jacaerys continues to do so.

“Jace, your baby brother has passed away and you’re still focused on serving FACE?”one user on X wrote.

Some also joined in, commenting: “YOU’RE DISCOVERING YOUR BROTHER IS DECEASED AND YOU’RE STILL POSING??”and “Continuing the trend of mewing.”

Another person joked that when someone said ‘Jace’, he heard ‘Face’.

A fourth individual chimed in, stating, “I seriously suggested that we refrain from arguing at your brother’s funeral.”

“Someone else noted that the scene in the Fleabag episode where she attends her mother’s funeral reminded them of this situation where Fleabag looks good and chic.”

Undoubtedly, Jacaerys cannot be held accountable. The Targaryen-Velaryon family, including himself, Rhaenyra, and Daemon, are all actively involved in the current conflict. As Rhaenyra’s plan to reclaim her rightful throne progresses, it is highly probable that they will also be responsible for the defeat of the Hightower family.
