House of the Dragon Season 2 finale: First Look at the Dragon

In the finale of House of the Dragon Season 2, a new dragon will take flight, possibly signaling the arrival of a highly anticipated Targaryen.

The final moments of Season 2 Episode 7 left viewers on edge as Hugh Hammer and Ulf the White successfully took control of Vermithor and Silverwing, while Aemond was left with no choice but to retreat with Vhagar upon witnessing the might of Rhaenyra’s dragon army.

Nevertheless, there are still a few dragons yet to be seen. It is anticipated that Rhaena will claim the wild dragon in the Vale, but it has not yet made an appearance. Cannibal, Grey Ghost, and Sheepstealer have also not been spotted, and apart from a brief glimpse in Season 1, Dreamfyre remains unmet.

The recently released trailer for Season 2 Episode 8 has given viewers a glimpse of one of the most significant dragons, Tessarion, also known as the “Blue Queen,”which is ridden by Daeron Targaryen.

In the seventh episode, it was revealed that Tessarion had “taken to the skies”, making her appearance in the finale expected. The true question is whether or not Daeron will make an appearance.

According to one Redditor’s prediction, the scene will most likely only show the dragon flying and possibly a figure, with no introduction or clear shot of the character.

“I hope they limit her appearances and save her for Season 3. It seems like she’s just a placeholder model, similar to Sunfyre and Dreamfyre from last season,”another viewer remarked.

Some individuals are optimistic, as evidenced by one person’s comment: “It’s possible that they are still featuring his face because they are starting to film for the upcoming season in just a few months. They likely already know who will be playing him and may have filmed a brief cameo.”

“Someone else voiced their frustration, stating that it would be extremely aggravating if Tessarion appeared in the last moments of the episode without showing Daeron. They specifically wanted to see Daeron Targaryen.”

During an interview with Variety following Episode 2, showrunner Ryan Condal stated that the role of Daeron had not yet been filled, but it is possible that he was not being entirely truthful.

Although I previously stated that he is a character in the show, he is currently residing in Oldtown where he was sent away as a child. As of now, there is no point-of-view character in that world, and there is no compelling reason to include it in the story,”he clarified.

“Although he is not yet a dragon rider, he has had a dragon born to him. Therefore, he will eventually join the narrative and play a role, just as he does in the book. However, we have not yet reached that point in the storytelling.”
