House of the Dragon Season 2 receives backlash over unexpected kiss

Despite its recent episode of House of the Dragon season 2 receiving a surprise kiss in its final moments, the show has been review bombed online.

As we near the end of Season 2 of House of the Dragon, episode 6 continues to progress the story, develop character arcs, and showcase the awe-inspiring dragons.

Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, the latest episode of House of the Dragon has been targeted by negative reviews on IMDb. As a result, it currently has the lowest score out of all episodes in both seasons of the show.

The episode “Smallfolk”has an IMDb audience score of 6.3, based on more than 8,000 reviews for its most recent installment, with the majority giving it a one-star rating.

The cause of the review-bombing was a spontaneous sapphic kiss between Emma Darcy’s character Rhaenyra and Mysaria, which was not initially written into the script and was only revealed later.

Upon analyzing the IMDb score distribution, it is evident that the episode has been heavily review-bombed by audiences in Saudi Arabia and Iraq, accounting for over 5,000 of the one-star reviews.

Additionally, the episode’s average rating is 2.8 when considering only the reviews from Saudi Arabia.

In the last scene of the episode, Rhaenyra and Mysaria have a private and heartfelt exchange where Mysaria pledges her loyalty to Rhaenyra. This leads to a steamy and passionate kiss between the two.

It is anticipated that when Daemon, Rhaenyra’s husband and uncle, eventually rejoins Team Black in the fight, this situation will cause tension between the two women.

It should not be overlooked that Mysaria also had a relationship with Daemon, creating a rather complex love triangle.

As of now, there has been no comment from the show or its stars regarding the backlash of episode 6. Rest assured, we will continue to provide updates as they become available.
