Fans of House of the Dragon are feeling “devastated”following the confirmation by the creator of the fate of one of the beloved characters from the debut episode of season 2.
The highly anticipated second season of House of the Dragon has finally debuted, and viewers were treated to some unexpected twists and turns in the first episode, which also laid the groundwork for the upcoming showdown between the Greens and the Blacks.
The Starks and the North have been receiving praise from Game of Thrones fans for their presence in the season’s opening moments, as well as the highly discussed final scene of episode 1, which has been a popular topic online.
Fans have been left wanting more from the Starks, particularly Cregan, after being captivated by the opening scenes and conversations between Jacaerys Velaryon and Cregan Stark.
Despite being adapted from the novels Fire and Blood, House of the Dragon maintains the same key role of Cregan and the Starks in the Dance of Dragons. However, their impact in the war is not fully realized until later on in the story.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed that Cregan, an important character in the later part of the story, will not be making an appearance in Season 2.
“Anyone who is familiar with the books knows that he is a key player in the larger Dance of the Dragons. I would be thrilled to have Tom return. We had a great experience working with him, but I believe it is important to let the story unfold and see where it leads us.”
Despite this, fans of House of the Dragon are heartbroken to learn that Cregan will not be returning this season. Additionally, the appearance of the Northerners in the early episodes of season 2 was a pleasant surprise for many viewers.
According to one X user, the northern accent was incredibly soothing and therapeutic. They expressed a desire for more of the Stark character.
“One person also commented, stating, “It was such a great experience revisiting Winterfell. The music, the castle, and seeing the wall again really brought back memories lol.”
Actor Tom Taylor, known for his portrayal of Cregan Stark in the debut episode of House of the Dragon season 2, expressed his enthusiasm to continue playing the character in the future. He stated, “I couldn’t wait to do more…I was already in costume and I just wanted to keep on acting.”
You can now watch the first episode of House of the Dragon season 2, and new episodes will be released weekly.
