How Black Ops 6 Makes Weapon Camo Grind Easier

Black Ops 6 streamlines the weapon camo grind by eliminating the laborious weapon-level prerequisites that previously hindered the progression.

Treyarch’s team of designers went above and beyond for Black Ops 6, implementing 12 brand new mastery camos. Additionally, in a first for the franchise, Warzone will feature its own unique camo progression path in addition to Multiplayer and Zombies.

Before being able to unlock mastery skins, players are required to finish all military and unique challenges for a particular weapon. The specific details of these challenges have not been determined yet, but the usual grind will be significantly simplified and less monotonous this year.

According to a report by ModernWarzone, it has been confirmed that BO6 will not have any level requirements for unlocking weapon camos. This is a departure from previous games like Modern Warfare 3, where players had to reach level 20 with the STG-44 and get 25 operator kills in tac stance in order to unlock the white camo for that weapon.

In Black Ops 6, achieving 25 operator kills in tac stance would be counted immediately, without the requirement of reaching level 20 beforehand.

The improvement in quality of life was met with celebration from the players.

This change eliminates the requirement for players to use a weapon for a longer period of time than they originally intended.

“One user responded with surprise at the most shocking instance of artificially boosting playtime ever witnessed in a COD game.”

Despite acknowledging this, Treyarch still managed to create a challenging grind.

“Although there is no level requirement, a second commenter mentioned that players will still have to complete 9 military camos and headshot milestones for each gun before starting on the specific camos. This suggests that the military camos will still require a significant amount of grinding and that players will not be able to access the specific camos at level 0.”

Nevertheless, the community members are eagerly anticipating the implementation of the change.

“As a result, this year’s camo grinding will actually be enjoyable,”a third commenter asserted.

Although players will not be able to begin the mastery camo grind during the open beta, they can still gain a good understanding of which weapons they want to prioritize unlocking first.
