How ChatGPT Helped a Gaslighting TikToker with Spelling and Simple Words

A TikTok user was confused when ChatGPT tried to manipulate them about the correct spelling of a basic word.

Despite the significant controversy and debate surrounding it, OpenAI’s ChatGPT remains an immensely popular tool among its users.

Despite its reputation as a dependable source of information, a TikTok user gained widespread attention for sharing ChatGPt’s difficulty in answering a single question.

Despite being asked to spell “strawberry” , the generative AI tool confidently declared that there were only two R’s in the word – a claim that ChatGPT was determined to stand by.

The individual, known as ‘YallWatchThis’ on TikTok, decided to share their interaction with the chatbot on the app. The conversation started with the user asking how many R’s were in the word “strawberry”. ChatGPT’s response was that there were two.

Despite being corrected, ChatGPT persisted and even questioned whether YallWatchThis was counting the R in ‘straw’ and ‘berry’ separately. Even after being asked to explain the spelling, the chatbot maintained its belief that YallWatchThis was incorrect.

The duo persisted in their debate over the correct spelling of a word, but despite YallWatchThis’ persistent attempts, ChatGPT remained steadfast and even misspelled “straw”as “strawr”at one point. It took YallWatchThis more than five minutes of reading the conversation aloud for a TikTok video before finally convincing the chatbot to accept the third “R”.

One person commented, “ChatGPT isn’t gaslighting you.”Another person jokingly mentioned that YallWatchThis had triumphed over ChatGPT in a one-on-one battle.

In the meantime, another user recounted their experience of interacting with the chatbot. Although it accurately recognized three R’s, when the user informed ChatGPT that there were only two, the chatbot reportedly apologized and acknowledged the mistake.

Shortly after the altercation between YallWatchThis and ChatGPT, OpenAI surprised TikTokers with their announcement of a new AI model, dubbed ‘Strawberry’, which promised to have even greater problem-solving abilities.
