Despite still being in closed early access, Deadlock is already causing pro players and content creators to abandon their games.
Despite a lack of traditional marketing campaign, Deadlock has gained significant attention and a large player base since its release. Even with only a basic Steam page, Valve has not actively promoted the game.
It is not surprising that many players who have access to the game will become hooked, while others who are truly dedicated may even abandon their current games to focus solely on Valve’s hero shooter MOBA.
Shortly after Deadlock was recognized by Valve, one of the prominent streamers, AverageJonas, made a significant announcement to switch entirely from Valorant. He stated that he was feeling overwhelmed and exhausted from the tactical first-person shooter, resulting in his decision to quit the game entirely.
Hey guys I wanted to give you a little update on my future and why I have decided to quit Valorant. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me all these years and I hope you understand why I have made this decision. Much love, AJ 💟 pic.twitter.com/IuydkpUx9a

During the weeks that followed, several other professional players and content creators also made the switch to Deadlock.
Noko, a content creator for Apex Legends, stated that he would be shifting his focus to Deadlock and would be creating a variety of videos for the game in the future. He announced his decision to leave the battle royale.
Vegas, a professional player of PUBG, revealed his retirement from the game in order to transition to Deadlock. He also shared that he had been dedicating a lot of time to the game even before it was officially recognized by Valve.
“I want to make it clear that I am retiring from PUBG and will be focusing on a career in Deadlock,”he stated. “It may not be well-known, but before the NDA was lifted, I dedicated months of my time and energy to this game, providing numerous hours of feedback and playing for over 1,000 hours.”
Hardecki, who is a skilled Apex Legends player known for playing for Aurora, has recently shared his decision to retire, receiving a lot of support from fellow players in the community.
“As some of you may have noticed, I haven’t played Apex in quite some time and I never officially announced my departure. Consider this my announcement and thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey.”
It looks like Deadlock is slowly luring over professional players from a wide range of games.
Similarly to Valorant’s beta in 2020, Deadlock is now also drawing in numerous professional players and content creators from their respective games. This is not the first time such a phenomenon has occurred, as Valorant also caused a stir when it first entered the scene.
