How to get unusual cocoons in Wild Hearts?

Wild Hearts is a game with a lot going on, and that’s the way it should be. There are many types of monsters to fight, many different types of equipment to craft, and many materials to collect.

Basically, forging materials are the “natural results” of hunting Kemono; however, players can also find specific materials that will save them time later in the game when they need better equipment.

Cocoons are strange materials collected by hunters. They are spider silk cocoons scattered around the ruins of Fort Fuyufusaga. Let’s take a look at what they look like and where they can be found in Hearts of the Wild so players can better collect them.

What are Peculiar Cocoons and What Do They Look Like?

The first step in creating this guide was to create an accurate representation of what strange cocoons look like. Players need to know the actual appearance of these strange cocoons in order to easily spot them in the vast expanse of snow in the area.

Luckily, strange cocoons have a unique appearance that makes them easy to spot. There is no easy way to describe them verbally, but the closest approximation is that they look like a mass of raised growths with yellow-tipped cotton swabs sticking out on all sides.

Although Peculiar Cocoons are not as plentiful as some of the other collectibles, players will notice that they can usually only be found in one or two locations in each location where they spawn.

Players who are worried that tiny white cocoons can be found on the ground in the snowy areas of the game should not worry too much, as the developers were aware of this problem and made sure that most of these cocoons were found in the ruined buildings on the territory of Fort Fuyufusagi . There is no confirmation of this in the game, but it is probably implied that the one who rotated these cocoons made the dilapidated fort his home.

The best place to find Strange Cocoons is, coincidentally, the same place where players can harvest Spiked Scales from Shard Watchers. The Mournful Upper Keep is an open area spanning two “floors” of the fort, with Shard Watchers at the far western end.

There should be some debris scattered just diagonally from the Watchers, but apart from that, there should be two strange cocoons at each end of this covered area. And if for some reason they aren’t here, or the players want to find a few more before discarding a card…

Finally, how can players most effectively collect these cocoons? As mentioned above, several cocoons appear near the Ancient Well. With that in mind, players can simply camp at this well, grab the unusual cocoons, open the expanded map, and select a kemono to hunt near Fuyufusagi Fort. Then select this camp as the spawn location for reloading.

Players can also build Tsukumo’s Ore Shrines at any camp, and they will be able to obtain random items specific to that region automatically collected by Tsukumo over time. Using these two methods, especially in combination, should make it easier for players to get enough of these fancy cocoons to craft whatever silk-like items they might need (and there aren’t many).

Wild Hearts is available now for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
